ArtfulStories© was created by Laura Miera, M.A., after seeing how children love to act out books with fun games, art and music during her work as a Literacy Director with California Families For Literacy. A shy child, Laura’s passion for theater, stories, pop music and crafts helped in developing the confidence and social skills children can struggle with. After a B.A. in Theater, she worked and studied off Broadway where she was inspired by cool artists, some scary geniuses and, mostly, ordinary theater folk who taught her new things like how to sew, cook chicken soup and laugh with joy. In Los Angeles, she studied at The Drama Therapy Institute and received her M.A. at Loyola Marymount University before licensing as an Art Therapist in 1998. Laura looks forward to sharing her love of stories, her record player and her enthusiasm for all budding thespians!
